IVF treatment with Dr. Charles MPL
Your
first consultation
for IVF treatment with Dr. Charles MPL.
It
is preferred
that you
bring along
all available previous
tests that
you and
your husband
have undergone
to show
Dr. Charles MPL. Ideally,
you should
come with
your husband.
On
your arrival
at the
clinic,
you will
be welcomed
by pleasant
nursing staff.
They will
record your
name, address,
telephone number,
blood pressure
and weight.
On meeting Dr.
Charles MPL, you will
be welcomed
and your
previous menstrual,
test and
treatment history
will be
reviewed.
Your husband will
be asked
about coital
frequency, urethral
discharge, scrotal
itch, testicular
pain and
injury. He
will be
examined for
scrotal skin
thickening, swollen
veins (varicocele) and
the size
and consistency
of his testes.
In
your physical
examination, a
check will
be made
on your
general heath.
and also
to look
for signs
of ovulation
problems, fallopian
tube problems,
uterus problems
and endometriosis. An internal
examination is
performed to
assess the
pelvic structures
and to
take a pap
smear and
a cervix swab
for chlamydia.
A
provisional working
diagnosis is
made and
a plan
of tests
and treatment
explained to
you. You
will then
share your
questions and
concerns. Dr.
Charles MPL will attempt
to answer
them.
When
you are
satisfied with
the plan,
you will
give a specimen of
blood and
urine for
testing. If
your husband
is available at this consultation,
he will
give a
specimen of
blood for
testing. If
he finds
it convenient,
he can
choose to
produce his
semen in
a special
room nearby.
Otherwise, an
appointment can
be made
for him
to produce his
semen at
home and
to bring
it to
the laboratory. A
clean container
will be
given to
him for
this purpose.
You
are advised
to come
on day 2 of
your menses
to take
blood for
your basal
Follicle stimulating
hormone level.
A follow
up appointment
is given
to review
the test
results and
finalize your
treatment plan.
